  1. Matt Says:

Your Newegg Wish List is not working.

  2. admin Says:

    Hey Matt,
The wish list appears to be working fine for me, but you do need to have an account with Newegg to access the whole list. From time to time I have to update the individual components as Newegg doesn’t keep anything in stock for long.

  3. Todd Says:

Is it ok to use the Q9550 processor instead of the Q9650? It’s $100 cheaper and the only difference I can see when comparing them on newegg is 2.83Ghz vs 3.0Ghz.

  4. masonjames Says:

Todd, that chip will work just fine. Congrats on the great price!

  5. Fred Says:

Excellent website, thanks for your contributions! Would it be a problem to change the case to a Rosewill R5605-BK, ram to G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit x2, and downgrade the HD to a 750gig? I’m guessing these components would be interchangeable but I’d like your input. Thanks for your time.

  6. admin Says:

    Hey Fred,
I have no direct experience with the case you mentioned, but the RAM and HD should be fine. You are correct in thinking that these components are interchangeable. Your main concern is for the motherboard, chip, and video card. It’s essential to get these right, but after that you can configure them to your liking. Thanks for the question! Good luck!

  7. Ginge Says:

Um, I suppose there aren’t instructions anywhere as to how to stick all this stuff together?
Apologies if I’ve missed a really obvious link.

    Cheers chaps.

  8. admin Says:

    Hiya,

The DVD we sell on this site provides a guide for both the hardware assembly and the Leopard installation. We’re working on new products and some new distribution models for the future, so I’m not sure how much longer that product will be available. Stay tuned though… more information is coming!

  9. Greg Says:

Can I get away with downgrading the processor to Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33GHz 4MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor . Save me over 150 dollars.

  10. admin Says:

    Hey Greg,

Sure, as long as the board supports the LGA 775 chipset you’re fine. It’s a great way to save the money if you don’t require the heavy processing power. Good luck!

  11. donald Says:

Will any socket 775 chip work? The dvd says core 2 quad or core 2 duo. If that is the case will the e5200 still work. And in another case will any chip between the e5200 and the q9650 work?

  12. admin Says:

You’ve go it Donald. Any desktop socket 775 chip will work. We just try to keep it easy for people, but the e5200 is a fantastic chip that will get the job done (and often at a great price)

  13. Audrey Says:

I’m trying to decide between this build and the ‘goodest’ model. The machine would be a dedicated Final Cut Studio 3 (Apple Color) box. I need an ATI or Nividia card for this. I’m new to the Hackintosh idea but color me intrigued. Will either of these builds work with the card I need (ATI Radeon X1900XT)?

    TIA!

  14. admin Says:

Both builds will work. You will have to install an EFI String for your graphics card, but others have been able to do this successfully. The main difference between the “gooder” and “goodest” models is the core2quad versus the core i7. It’s up to you which you want to go with. The core2quad is very powerful and will save a lot of money, but soon be obsolete. The core i7 is newer and more expensive, but if you buy a system with this now, you can be assured that an upgrade will be possible in the future. Pros and Cons to each…

  15. Chad Says:

Will one of the newer SSD drives work on here as an OS drive with one of the larger sata drives as a storage drive?

  16. admin Says:

    Great idea. Should work fine!

  17. Roman Says:

I am looking for a budget gaming build. Would something like this be possible with the GTX 285, and probably downgrading the CPU slightly? Trying to keep the budget the same as the “gooder” model and then I will be ready to order the DVD.

  18. gethackintoshed Says:

The GTX 285 is a fantastic card and one we have been able to use successfully as well. You will need to get the custom kext files for your video card which is available here and on other sites and depends on whether you’re installing Leopard or Snow Leopard. Using the gooder system with this card should give you great results!

  19. John T. Says:

Hi, I am technology geek. I love Newegg.I’ve never ever seen cheaper value else where. It is for sure the best place for computer parts.

  20. hi is this graphics card compatible?? Says:

EVGA 01G-P3-N981-TR GeForce 9800 GT 1GB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card. please let me know, the help is much appreciated!

  21. Dstan Says:

Hi, the only part that is currently out of stock is the power supply. Would this setup be compatible with the Rosewill RG630-S12?
    Item#:N82E16817182200 (newegg)

  22. gethackintoshed Says:

    Hey Dstan,
I just checked it out and it looks all good.

    Best of luck,
    Aaron@gethackintosh

  23. Chris Brewer Says:

I have NewEgg account, and I’m logged in. None of your wishlist links work; they all report “This wish list is empty”. Too bad, as I’m looking for a simple list of components and instructions that guarantee 100% Snow Leopard compatibility/functionality. I had hoped this might be the site but from a casual glance that doesn’t seem to be the case. Am I wrong?

  24. gethackintoshed Says:

    Hey Chris,
Sorry to hear that. I just logged in and checked the links and they seem to be working perfectly fine. Some items are out of stock so we will be updating the shopping cart with newer ones in the next week or two.

    Good Luck,
    Aaron@gethackintosh

  25. Carl Says:

I dont want to buy that Video card,
You think will work with my EVGA GeForce GT 240 ? thanks!
